Care Guide
How to care for your handmade piece
Every Zaré Designs piece is shaped and finished by hand from papier-mâché, cement, stone, and other natural materials. With a little care, it will keep its look for years.
Everyday Care
- Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush. In most cases, this is all it needs.
- Keep pieces out of direct, prolonged sunlight to help the natural tones stay true over time.
Papier-Mâché
- Keep away from water and damp spaces. Papier-mâché is a paper-based material and should not get wet. Do not soak it or wash it under running water. If you need to remove a mark, gently clean the spot with a barely damp cloth, then dry it immediately.
- Avoid steamy or highly humid areas, such as bathrooms or directly above a stove.
Cement, Concrete, and Stone
- If needed, clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Do not use harsh, abrasive, or strong cleaning products.
- These materials are sturdy, but they can chip or become damaged if knocked, so handle them with care.
- If you would like to use a piece outdoors, we recommend checking with us first, as not every finish is suitable for weather exposure.
Lighting
- Use LED bulbs, as they produce less heat. Follow the recommended wattage and avoid high-heat incandescent bulbs, especially with paper or fabric shades.
- Before cleaning or changing a bulb, switch off the light and let it cool.
